7 Quick Ways to glam up your Orlando Wedding

A huge trend in the wedding industry are glamorous styled events. This is a trend that will be ever popular and will never fade from the bridal scene. I love the elements of a glamorous wedding. The trend is fairly easy to execute and could be the perfect option for your Orlando Wedding! So, here are 7 Quick Ways to Glam up your Orlando Wedding!

Lucite! This is must for any glamorous Orlando wedding. Lucite and glam just go together. Think of the transparent nature of Lucite and clear crystals. The nature of both allow light to bounce off of their surfaces. This creates visually stunning and dramatic areas. Use tons of crystal and Lucite in your décor if you are going for a glam wedding.
Sparkle! This is a main staple for any glam wedding. The glitz is essential for any glam. So incorporate this into any design element that you want. Think about the menus, place cards, table numbers and vases. This elements goes hand in hand with Lucite, crystal and reflective surfaces.
Reflective surfaces! These surfaces are great because they expand the space and fools the eye. For example, if you have a lot of candles as a centerpiece paired with a mirror top table you are going to fool the eye into thinking there are hundreds of candles on the table. Reflective surfaces are great with ambient lighting and sparkle because, well, they reflect them and create visual interest and movement.
Luxe Linens! I am a sucker for a beautiful piece of fabric. I love texture and color. Many luxe linens incorporate both of my favorite things! So luxe linens are a must for a glam wedding. I would suggest putting a high end linen only at special spots where you want the eye to move. So the head table/sweetheart table, the cake table, and a few guest tables. Don’t overdo it. I have seen a room full of rosette table clothes…overkill! REMEMBER: Each element should highlight the next.
Brooch Bouquets! Ok so I am biased! So what?! A brooch bouquet adds a certain glamour to a bride. In my opinion it is all about the sparkle. (You just can’t get enough…ask all of my brides!) Brooch bouquets add subtle glitz and glam. They are moving trinkets really. What I really love about brooch bouquets are the fact that they are a keepsake. Yes, they are beautiful but they can also become a family tradition, passed down to each and every girl in the family getting married. How sweet is that?

Chair Details! Consider a chair detail for your glam wedding. This is an easy way to incorporate the previous elements. Get matching chair ties so that every other chair matches your luxe linen. Or tie a bow and wire some florals and crystals to every other chair! The possibilities are endless and it is one more opportunity to tie your theme together and create a sense of cohesion.
Ambient Lighting! Lighting is on my top 5 list of room changers. You have to have lighting. Lighting sets the mood for the space. I think that it is definitely something that is overlooked when planning a wedding. Transporting your guests to another space and time is really important and lighting helps you achieve this. It creates a somewhat magical atmosphere and further drives home the theme to your guests.

Wedding Shoe Sunday: Gown by Betsey Johnson

I am in love with these shoes! I think that they are the perfect answer to your elegant wedding shoe needs. So here is the low down on why I love these shoes. The heel is not super high. The heel measures in at 3.5 inches. I am usually a fan of sky high heels. However, think of your wedding day. You will be on your feet for a good part of the day. So a lower heel is a smart option. There is a cushion on the foot bed. I love this because it is added comfort and complements the lower heel. From the reviews, a lot of girls appreciated this added feature. Finally, I love it because it has feet bling! My readers all know that I am a lover of all things sparkly. So, this shoe is perfect and meets my bling criteria! I love the elegant bow bling motif. It is not an actual bow which is a nice change. Oh, and the bottoms are blue which is a nice touch. This can be your something blue! Gown by Betsey Johnson comes directly from her bridal line. So I think that there was a lot of thought put into the shoe itself and what a bride really needs on her wedding day, which is style, comfort and ease! Check out these shoes. I found them here: http://www.zappos.com/betsey-johnson-gown-ivory-satin?zfcTest=fcl%3A3

5 Huge Red Flags you Need to Hire a Wedding Planner ASAP

Today’s bride has resources at her fingertips. She can google, bing or forum any question, making her invincible! Every now and again there are bumps on the road to wedding planning. So, here are five signs that you should hire a wedding planner to handle your woes.

#5 You are stressed: This is the easiest to pin point. Wedding planning stops being fun when the people involved become stressed out. Try not to let yourself get to this point. Stress can lead to:

  • Weight gain
  • Weight loss
  • Acne
  • Dizzy spells
  • Anxiety
  • Loss/gain of appetite
  • Irritability

Focusing on the last point. Stress can lead to fights with family and friends. This is a huge red flag! During the planning process you should not be fighting with your loved ones. The planning process should be fun, enjoyable, exciting and most all a celebration of love! Is this not the reason for the festivities in the first place!?

#4 Things are not fully in place: I call these maybe plans. Meaning, you focused on it for a point in time but it is still not a solidified plan. Two months to the wedding every major vendor should be booked. There should be contracts in place and you should be sure that you have each category taken care of. Nothing should be left to chance at this point. Every detail should be thought of and accounted for. At this point, general timelines should be in the creation process. You should be creating timelines for each of the following:

  • Vendors
  • Bridal Party
  • Venue
  • Family

#3 You are not sure what to do next: Many brides come to me when they are not sure what the next step is. I, personally, love when brides realize they need help. It means that they will have a beautiful day without avoidable mistakes. The worst thing a couple can do when planning a wedding is not ask for help. So if you are not sure what’s next, don’t be afraid to ask for help!

#2 Your boss becomes weary or your work is suffering: Did you know that the average wedding takes an average of over 400 hours to plan? That is like taking on an additional full time job, working 40 hours a week for the next few months. This is in addition to your already hectic schedule. A great deal of research, phoning vendors and communicating via email happen during working hours. A wedding is definitely important and has to be perfect, but it is not worth losing your job. If you are doing too much planning at work, hire a wedding planner. Your planner will do the majority of your legwork and you will be able to focus more on work. All you have to do is approve decisions. Think of yourself as a wedding supervisor!

#1 You don’t have anyone to coordinate the day-of: This is the biggest red flag. I say this because only on the day of do brides realize that they need help. Mom and Aunt Sally need to get ready too! The day of consists of so many aspects:

–          Getting vendors on the right page and coordinating each. For example, you don’t want the florist and rentals coming before the linens arrive!

–          Decorating the venue (Ceremony and Reception)

–          Fine tuning details

–          Keeping on timeline

–          Handling behind the scenes issues and keeping the bride clueless to mishaps

–          Clean ups and farewells/ making sure your gifts are with you

–          Post wedding: making sure all wedding items get returned on time so that no additional fees accrue

As the couple getting married you should want all of your guests to enjoy themselves. They should not have to play wedding planner for the day. Let everyone have fun and let loose. Leave the hard work to an Orlando Wedding Planner!

4 Surefire ways to Involve the Groom

When planning a wedding often times the groom can get lost in the process. Things that seem REALLY important at that moment take precedence and before you know it the groom is left out of the planning process. He may feel alienated and it can be hard to get him involved in the planning process.

Tip#1 Ask for his opinion. A lot of the time you can just ask your fiancé for his opinion. Surprise! He actually has an opinion. It may seem like he does not care and it may seem like he is not interested but the truth is he does. Maybe he just has not been asked yet. It is east to get wrapped up. When you ask him make sure the time is appropriate. If he has just gotten home from a long stressful day at work, had to drive through 2 hours of crazy Orlando traffic, maybe that is not the best time. Even though you may have a job also, the bride usually has more of a zeal to plan your wedding. Understand the timing and get his opinion. Another point is to ask him before you actually go out and search for options. This shows that you are including him and that he is not an afterthought.

Tip#2 Stop Saying it’s your wedding, it’s his too! I know a lot of brides do this. Trust me, I was guilty of this too! It is so hard not to call it your wedding. But try. The reason for this is it actually excludes him subconsciously. Of course he knows that he is getting married too but it nixes his opinion before he even opens his mouth. A marriage is a unification of two people and their families. It all starts with your view of the wedding. Start by saying, “Our Wedding!” when speaking about it to friends, family and vendors. Changing the one word is inclusive and shows that you care about his feelings!

Tip#3 Take him on the appointments that matter! This is an easy and surefire way to get his input. Take your guy to places like the catering appointment and the cake tasting where he can sample the menus. Or even your specialty drink tasting. This is something all guys love: food and drinks! Is there going to be a golf outing the day of the wedding? Send him to the golf club to make the arrangements. What will he wear to the wedding and the events surrounding the main event? He should definitely have an opinion on this. This is a task that he can definitely handle with your supervision. It will involve him and show him that he can make decisions during the planning process.

Tip#4 Give him tasks that he will enjoy! Men typically enjoy certain tasks. Hone into his interests and start there. Are you guys sports fans? Why not have a watch party before the wedding to welcome and entertain guests. Have your soon to be hubby plan this party. I am sure this is sure to intrigue him and spark his interest. I don’t know about you guys but my guy gets really excited (like a little kid) when something is interesting to him. He even obsesses about it a little and talks about it nonstop! So, find things in the process that are right up his alley. Another great task to send his way is the honeymoon planning. Everyone loves to travel and this is his chance to pull out his best romantic cards and put them on the table. He can build the honeymoon around his personality to ensure a good time. So, whether he is romantic, adventurous or wants to relax he will typically enjoy planning the honeymoon.

Overall, be creative and tune into his interests. Most guys don’t dream about their wedding day all their live. They can seem a little lack luster when planning a wedding. However, with a little push, you will see how interested he really is! I hope this helps!
