New trends are bound to hit the Event and wedding design circuit in the near future. With the recent nuptials of Kim Kardashian to new hubby Kris Humphries there are sure to be new trends. Brides went crazy for the Royal wedding and now America has it’s very own Royal Wedding (or as close as we can get to one).
The couple wed on Saturday August 20, 2011 in Montecito, California. The theme of the wedding was “Old Hollywood” with a color story of Black and White. Each guest was required to wear black or white only. The ceremony and reception were both decked out in black and white decor with carpets upon carpets of flowers!
What does this mean for the Bridal and event industry? It means more is more again! Brides are going to opt more for opulent and luxurious wedding days rather then simpler understated days. (After all, marriage is a BIG deal!) The Kardashian-Humphries wedding is sure to stir more trends for brides who are getting married. Once all the pictures are released I am sure dresses will be made to emulate Vera Wang’s creations. As for the decor brides too will want the same look of Old Hollywood and essentially the classic black and white theme will be brought back! I definitely think that many brides will also opt for a hint of color such as red, pearl, or plum. Everyone wants something original for their special event, adding a signature color is a great way to spice things up!
Here are some some inspiring pieces that we love already!
So we have definitely seen the candy bar. The sliders and milkshakes: been there done that! What’s next? The Ice Cream buffet! Think vintage and cool! Old school ice cream trucks can be rented by rental companies or prop companies. Place some cool signs with a circus font and SHAZAM! You have yourself a retro prop for your wedding! If you have someone handy with a saw and screw gun (put your soon to be hubby to work!)I am sure you could even build one for a couple hundred dollars!
Roll out this vintage cart towards the end of the night when the party is winding down. It’s perfect for a summer wedding or event. This ice cream cart reminds me of warm summer nights growing up in New York. My cousins and I would wait on our balcony for the ice cream man! Yum! I hope this sparks some ideas for my vintage brides and planners!
Recently, there has been a great deal of pink in the wedding world. It seems as though this years top designer have caught the case of Pink Fever and we love it! Designers are taking spring and summer colors and applying it to weddings. This is great news for fashionistas! Our favorite designers are now applying a more fashion forward look to their wedding dress lines! More and more wedding dresses are becoming avant-guard and non traditional.
My all time favorite dress is the Oscar De La Renta pink ballgown. The must have dress of the season features a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice that includes beautiful drapping and a glorious skirt complete with satin finished edges! Can any of my followers say, “To Die For?” The dress takes a conventional silhouette and makes it completely new and exciting by using a light pink blush color instead of the classic white or ivory.
These dresses are not for the shy bride. Someone who wears a pink wedding dress is bold and unique. The light blush color keeps with the wedding theme but still goes outside of the box. I think I am in Love! Can I get married again?….Please?
What do you think? Are pink wedding gowns too much for a wedding or would you go for a pink wedding dress!?
The long time tradition of the bride carrying something borrowed, blue, old and new began in order to give the bride good luck on her big day. This tradition has lasted the test of time and is something that we still take part in, even today. These days however, there is always a spin on old traditions. Why not get your hubby to be something blue as well. (I’m sure he will love the extra luck!) Think about it, getting married for a man is just nerve wrecking as a woman getting married. Sure they don’t stress about the same things but trust me, they are stressing!!!! Try the Johnnie Walker Blue Label! It is one of my all time favorite gifts to give as well drink! It is aged to perfection and comes in a super cool box!
