Making a Conscious Decision to Choose J O Y Daily!

Ok spoiler alert, im gonna get all emotional on yal!

My move to the DMV area was a lot HARDER than I thought. I dreamed of adventure, life in a big city and weekends getting day drunk at Brunch! But that was NOT the case! Reality slapped me…and slapped me hard! Besides the fact that I moved hundreds of miles away from my family and friends, my business took a huge hit. It was a lot more difficult than I originally planned getting organized. Because of this I dropped the ball with one client. Emotionally, I was a serious wreck. I felt like a complete and total failure. Mrs. Positive became Mrs. Pessimist. It was not cool and a very ugly time.

Recently, I made the conscious decision to  C H O O S E   J O Y   D A I L Y  . I think often times we all get really wrapped up in day to day life. We get so engrossed with ourselves that we fail to see the bigger picture. Which is JOY!!!!! As Americans alone, we are sooo blessed. We get to live our day to day lives in a much more comfortable and convenient way. We often forget this and take the little things for granted. When I began seeing this I immediately changed my view. I began to  A P P R E C I A T E  all the amazing things in my life!

  1. I am super blessed with a thoughtful, caring, kind, loving, and hot husband!
  2. My family is the most loving (we are seriously obsessed with each other, no lie) compassionate and supportive family I could ever ask for.
  3. My business is flipping AWESOME. How many people get to do what they love, full-time, AND get paid to do it?!?
  4. My dog is freaking cute >.< and he loves me unconditionally

So because of all these amazing things, I decided to C H O O S E   J O Y   D A I L Y ! I start each day being thankful/grateful for at least one thing (I have a WHOLE list!) and I pray. Stay close to G O D and let H I M   G U I D E   Y O U! The rest will fall into place! We don’t need to figure life out right away. The fun is experiencing everything that life throws at us! So, buckle up, roll down the windows, blast the music, sing loudly and badly and enjoy the ride!

What do you have in your life RIGHT NOW that you can be T H A N K F U L for in T H I S   M O M E N T !?

XOXO,
Natalie Henry-Charles

How to Perfect Your RSVP Wording by Pretty Peacock Paperie – Washington D.C. Wedding Invitations

I think that many times people get so wrapped up in the design of the invitation that they in fact disregard the RSVP. This is so sad to me. The RSVP is your opportunity to really get info out of your guests. A good RSVP lets you know whether or not your guests are coming to your event. However, a  G R E A T   RSVP gives you so much more information. The whole point of the RSVP is to gather as much information about guests as possible.  Here are a couple of things to consider when crafting your RSVP wording!

  1. How many guests are coming? This is a biggie, especially in today’s modern wedding. Many of my clients do not give their guests a plus one. GASP! I know! If you are not giving guests a plus one, you should state this on the RSVP.
  2. Do you have a meal option? This should be on your RSVP. Most times you will need this information 2 weeks before your event date to confirm with the caterers. If you do have a meal option there are a couple ways to set up the wording.             Meal option RSVP wording Pretty Peacock Paperie _Washington D.C. Wedding invitationsMaybe you don’t have a meal option, but give guests an opportunity to tell you what they can’t eat. As a vegetarian, I hate when I show up to a wedding and there is absolutely nothing that I can eat. When you throw an event or a wedding YOU are the HOST. That means that you have to take care of your guests and their needs. Keep in mind most people spend a lot of money to attend a wedding. They usually buy a garment to wear, they give gifts leading up to the wedding and usually bring something to the wedding as well. They may even have to travel. This is a big commitment to take on and the least you can do as a host is make sure you have a warm entree for them. (Salad does not count as vegan/vegetarian options) My favorite way to explain this on a RSVP is like this:

3 Quick Tips: How to Master your RSVPs

3 Quick Tips: How to Master your RSVPs

Inviting your guests to your wedding is the easy part. Managing your guests is a whole other story! If your planner does this for you suhhhh-weeet! If not here are 3 quick tips to keeping everything in check!

1. Make sure your wording is on point! This is KEY! Be sure that you have a line for Names and their guest. If you have meal options on there be sure to include a line for who gets what meal. Nothing is worse than having to call EVERY.SINGLE. GUEST. to find out what they want to eat. I like to also include a dietary restriction line for people with allergies/intolerances.
2. Number them and create a key. Number those bad boys! There are always at least 3 people who do not bother to put a name or a return address!!! ALWAYS! Save your self the stress of having to figure out who cannot follow directions by creating a code!
3. Get them Digitalized! As soon as you get a fresh batch of responses add them to an online manager. Don’t wait to do it all at once. This will be overwhelming! Adding them to an online manager will help you down the line when you have to give the caterers numbers for attendance and meals and when you create seating charts! It will also help your stationer with the place/escort cards!

A Reflection of 9-11

Bible Quotes Revelation 21:4 by Pretty Peacock PaperieRead more

So as we all know, today is September 11th. A day that is truly somber in the U.S. My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones on that day. I know there is no way that I can really relate but I want to offer you my love and support. I also want you to know that God is with you always. He will guide you and take care of you! A scripture that always helps me cope is

REVELATION 21:4, And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and Death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be no more. The former things have passed away.

Today, I started my day with a run. I reflected the entire time on life and how lucky we are to be alive. It is so important to wake up everyday and love your family and friends. Tell them how much you appreciate them and love them. Hug them, spend time with them. And, really do this. Don’t just be in a room with them. Spend time with them! That means being less conscious of all our technology and more conscious of moments together! I know this is hard. Even  I falter on this sometimes. (Especially, because I run a business.) But you have to fight the urge, because essentially our lives are not guaranteed.

We must also live according to God. We should live to please him and in a fashion that would make him proud. That means loving ALL of our brothers and sisters worldwide and offering support to those around us! Nothing is ever gained in hate and we must set the example.

Again, my heart goes out to those family and friends who lost loved ones. My hope is that you can find comfort in God and the outpouring of love!

XOXO,
